IZUZU!!!!!!!!!!!! *hyperventilates*

Hahahaha!! Yeah!! Here I am!!! I don't have any art here though.

BTW I've been meaning to ask you something. (Because you seem to be really into copy rights and stuff). If I trace over images of real people but make a cartoon or a drawing of it over it giving it my own style, does it still count as art???

Examples of what I mean are here:…
(I traced over bodies of people to make the girls and well the instruments r 100% traced over I didn't make anything original)…
(Here I traced over this bicycle:…, but then I added the strings on the handle I changed the color, did the bg. I used a star brush, though)

So anyway, do these count as art or just fakes??? Or what??? I've just been wondering, please reply!

Hey again Izuzu!! I was just gone on some day trips the last few days, sorry for the late reply!

Ah I see what you mean about your question and I'm glad that you asked me!! I've seen some bad copying and tracing but I also know that there is a proper way to use guidelines or bases too!

After looking at your examples, I think that is fine :) I always appreciate when artists show their ref pictures especially when tracing over images. I think it is art, so don't worry! It only gets bad when someone traces a reference image, claims all credit, doesn't link the ref image, and overall doesn't all anything original to the drawings. Or if artwork or copyrighted photos are traced. But I've seen some interesting tracing tutorials here on DA which actually show some proper ways to trace too! That being said, you are doing fine in my opinion~ I think you are adding your own style, crediting the images in the proper way, and not relying on tracing all the time! You are an amazing artist so I know that you don't have to always trace, you only do it when you are stuck on a hard image.

I've put guidelines over a ref image before but I don't trace exact lines. It helps me if I need anatomy in a tough pose or object, without making me depend on the ref pic. Its somewhat like this:…

Thank you again for asking me!!!

(No worries, I don't check deviant that much, this is the first time I check since I wrote to you)

Yeah that's what I thought but had to ask anyway! Anyway yeah that's what I do too. I try not to depend on the ref pic entirely only on the really hard parts like arms and fingers. And yes. I've always thought violins and bicycles are two of the hardest things to draw ever!! What I think is definitely silly and not artistica at all is tracing over something that was already a drawing and coloring it exactly the same way and everything the same way. I've seen that a few times and I think it's silly~~ eheh. lol.

Thank you for answering my questions I know that when it comes to do's and don'ts in art (especially when it comes to things that can be considered art thievery)  I can always come to you. I know 'cause I read your posts on TheO. Hahaha

Thanks for the tutorial! That's basicaly what I did with the violin girls!! ;)

It's been fun talking to you again!!
